Ziya woke up in her warm bed lined with polar bear fur. She wished she could stay in bed forever. She got out of bed yawned while she stretched. It was snowing heavily outside, Ziya commented to herself. She walked over to her closet and pulled out her new parka. It was a dark blue, different from her usual indigo color outfits. She then pulled her hair up into her customary bun and slipped on her headband. Then she bended some water up to face and gave it a quick wash before racing downstairs to the center of her home. Since Ziya was the chiefs daughter, she lived in the Chief's temple. It was a large spacious home and provided great shelter during the harsh winters of the north pole. When she was down stairs she grabbed a quick crab seaweed biscuit to eat before heading out into the snow. Once outside she put on her gloves, pulled her hood over her head, and wrapped her scarf around her mouth and neck. The snow clouds were thick and heavy with snow. They were dark and blocked out most sunlight. As Ziya made her way through they sheets of snow, people were giving her cold looks as she bended the snow from hitting her face. They must still be upset that i broke the cultural way of having no women waterbenders, Ziya thought to herself. She looked down and avoided there cold gazes and she got to her Buffalo Yak. It was asleep and when Ziya gave it a light touch it jumped up startled. "Woah, easy there." she whispered kindly. She jumped onto it and rode quickly down the narrow streets of ice. Ziya quickly went through the ally ways towards her destination. Snow stung her face as she rode through the blizzard. When she got to the art class the sun was beginning to shine its way through the huge snow clouds but the snow still came down as hard as ever. As she entered the small art room she bended the snow off her parka. "Welcome Ziya," Jai Li rasped. Jai Li was the old art teacher. Wrinkles creased her smile as she motioned for Ziya to have a seat. Ziya flattened out her parchment and waited for the class to begin. Other girl began to enter too. Cai was one of the first. Cai was Ziya's best friend and was basically her polar opposite. She obsessed over how her hair looked and what she was going to wear that day. She was outgoing and a bit outspoken but Ziya leveled her and Cai got Ziya to be a little more social sometimes as well. That was one of the reasons they were such close friends. Akita, who was in Ziya's waterbending class, was Cai's brother as well. She was wealthy and a noble of the tribe. Her father was a waterbending master as well. As the other girls got settled Jai Li began the class. "Today we will be learning about color." she explained. "Color is what makes of breaks a drawing. It is the deal breaker so to speak. You can mix it and change it to whatever you decide. Color can also reflect you and your personality and feelings. I want you to paint what you feel using color." The girls got up and went over to the paint color shelf and chose their color palate. Ziya chose the cooler color palate with the blues and the purples where as Cai chose the oranges, reds, and pinks. They all set to work for about an hour and then Jai Li said, "All right girls, drop your brushes! Its time to show every one your creation. Ziya, why don't you start us off." Ziya went shyly up to the front of the class and showed hers. It was a dark purple and the bottom but faded to a light blue at the top. There were splashes of white where Ziya had bended it on the paper. This represented the times where Ziya show strong emotion. "Very good Ziya. How about Cai now." Cai then proceeded to walk gracefully up to the front of the room all most as if she were skipping every where she went. Cai's was a black back round with orange, red, and white polka-dots all across it and pink paint splatters too. By the end, everyone had shown all their work and got compliments on everything. "All right class, your free to go now. Place your paintings on the drying rack and you can come retrieve them tomorrow!" Jai Li said. As all the girls were heading our the door Cai asked, "Hey Zi, could you ride me over to the healing huts? I have a lesson in about 15 mins." "Sure, just hop on." Ziya replied and they rode off into the snow.
