Name: Rae Akita
Age: 17
Nationality: fire nation
Job: fire bender
Hair: blue/ black
Eyes: grey
Weight: 115lbs
Height: 5ft 5in
Family: father, mother (deceased), step mother, step sister
Likes: peace and quiet, the dark, her best friend Kenji and Rou.
Dislikes: her step sister Jin, her father, how she isn’t as good as Jin at bending even though she’s older, rice pudding, school, teachers, feeling weak, feeling helpless.
Combat/Bending Skills: dual wielding swords, fire bending.
Talents: ability to read people very easily, fire bending, close combat.
Motivation: friends, mother’s memory, eagerness to progress and get stronger
Personality: does not feel hatred or contempt towards the other nations and doesn’t care for the fire lord as her other peers do. She’s eager to see what is outside the Fire Nation and why the Fire Lord seeks to destroy the culture outside of hers.
Personality Strengths: eager, motivated, stubborn.
Personality Flaws: aggressive, irritable, and short-tempered.
Weaknesses: she later develops feelings for her friend Kenji, her self sacrifice (she’d give up her life without even blinking if it could save that of her friends or loved ones).
Brief History: When Rae was seven, her mother died from an illness and her father remarried five years later to a young woman (who was widowed) with a daughter three years younger than Rae. Jin, her twin sister, excels in everything Rae fails in. making her very bitter and jealous. Her father adores Jin and ignores Rae, he sees her as a reminder of his dead lover. She was put into a very advanced military school (since her father had served the fire lord in his army), meant to enhance her skills as a fire bender, but because of the people there and her burning hatred for teacher, she stops going and decides she’ll be her own teacher. Eventually she leaves the Fire Nation in secret with her friends, seeking knowledge and ability).
She’s very self-conscious about her fire-bending; she thinks it isn’t strong enough, so she often relies on her ability to use swords.
Description: dresses in clothes typically designed for men because she hates dresses and skirts but they are upper class and that shows through her attire. She always wears a hood and bandana even though they’re always down and carries her blades even though her father doesn’t approve. Despite her tom-boyish nature, Rae has dark bluish black hair almost down to her waist. She keeps it that way because her mother always used to talk about how much she loved it. She has blunt bangs and always keeps her hair in a braid. She resembles her mother, having the same “baby doll face”, as many people have described it. She’s very pale and has eyes so light blue, they look grey.
Role Playing Sample:
Rae slipped her bandana over her nose and looked at herself in the mirror. Tonight she’d have some fun.
With hood up and swords sheathed at her waist, Rae Akita jumped out her second story window and made her way down to the Fire Nation docks. Her friend Rou had said they were smuggling prisoners from other nations deep into the dungeons in their nation, she had decided she’d put her skills to the test and try to free some of the prisoners. Sure, she loved her nation, but the adventure and danger of doing something against it excited her.
She jumped from roof top to roof top, avoiding the eyes and evading the ears of Fire Nation soldiers who stood watch every few streets.
Once the ocean came into view, Rae stopped and took a deep breath. The ship was just about to dock, and she felt her mouth twist into a grin. Suddenly, there was a hand on her shoulder and within a second, she had pushed it away and drawn one of her swords.
“Nice reflexes, Rae.”
She laughed once and put her sword away, “You scared me to death, Kenji!!” She said in an irritated whisper. “What’re you doing here, anyway? Did Rou send you to make sure I wasn’t doing this?” She pursed her lips under her cowl.
“Of course, just like my brother, right?” He chuckled quietly, “I figured I’d join you in your endeavors… stupid as they may be.”
She crossed her arms, “What makes you think I want you here?”
“Never said you did, but if you go down, I’ll go down with you.” He grinned in a way that made Rae’s cheeks get hot, and she just shook her head at him.
Then the duo headed to the docks, where two Fire Nation soldiers were scouting the area before they brought out the prisoners. Kenji reached in his pack and pulled out a clay mask, then tied it around his head.
Rae wanted to roll her eyes, but instead she just took a deep breath. She had her back pressed up against a wall of an ally, Kenji was right behind her. To her right, the Fire Nation soldiers had begun taking out prisoners from the Earth Nation while to her left, a dozen more soldiers were heading down the ally to assist in the relocation of the prisoners. She looked at Kenji, eyes wide, and knew his expression matched hers under his mask. “What do we do…?” She mouthed.
Kenji turned his head toward the dozen soldiers and said sternly, “Fight.”
