Family: Kruu's family is quite average. His father was a warrior once, but is now retired and takes care of the family when his mother isn't home. His mother does odd jobs around the city for any kind of money. While Kruu has never had much money, he has always had bare necessities (simple bear necessities... Couldn't resist...) His family went out of their way, sometimes going without, to feed and clothe Kruu, sheltering him from the harshness of the world. Recently, Kruu has grown quite distant from his family. His father has developed a strong habit of alcoholism, and is rarely sober. His mother is never in the house. Kruu has had to become quite independent and look after himself most days. His family is still a loving one, but the relationship is strained at best.
Likes: Due mainly to his family, Kruu has developed into a rather socially awkward and shy child, preferring to be alone rather than with a group of people. When alone, Kruu lives inside his imagination, the world becoming his playground. He finds odd things to entertain himself, such as hunting down random city animals (such as rats) and killing them (usually eating them later.) He would walk around his section of city and count everything that is blue. He would listen into the conversations of others and create 'personality profiles' of people by the small sample he had to work with. All these activities have honed some of Kruu's abilities. He is able to hunt better than most people his age, he is observant, able to see without being seen, hear without being heard. He has slowly developed the skills necessary to keep himself well hidden from others while still being able to watch them closely.
More than anything, however, Kruu loves water bending. Always having been a poor family, Kruu's parents could never afford an education for the child, whether it be to train his mind or his bending. Having routinely practiced while in the city, however, Kruu shows more potential than most that have never had a formal trainer, but still lacks any real discipline that a master could show him.
Dislikes: His most obvious dislike is being around people. Kruu becomes immediately self conscious and begins to over think everything he would potentially say, resulting usually in him not saying it and being abnormally quiet. His brain becomes muddled and he becomes pre-occupied, reacting slower than normal, thinking and analyzing slower. (Note: This could and most likely will eventually change the more Kruu becomes comfortable around people.)
For an odd reason that Kruu could never explain, (likely linked to a blocked out memory of his father whilst drunk, or perhaps it is just a natural dislike of the fire nation), Kruu dislikes the color red, and is even more distrustful of anybody wearing it. He tends to avoid parts of the city where the color is common.
Due to his dislike of red, and his dislike of the fire nation, Kruu is extremely hateful of fire and immediately connects the element with rage. Seeing even a little bit of fire immediately starts a reaction within Kruu, size varying, of pure rage, sometimes resulting in Kruu losing control of himself and attacking those around him.
Combat/Bending Skills: Kruu seems to have a natural talent for bending, able to concentrate hard for long hours at a time. He never has had a formal teacher, however, so his bending his quite weak compared with those with more money who have been trained since a young age.
Never having trained hand to hand combat or weaponry, Kruu is unsure of his talents in those areas. (In truth, Kruu is abnormally good with hand to hand, while extremely uncomfortable wielding anything larger than a hunting knife.) His hair is falls over his ears and eyes, is a dark brown color, and is obviously cut by himself. His teeth are in abnormally good condition considering Kruu rarely is able to tend to them. His skin is rather pale, his clothes very plain. His ears are quite large, but are hidden (thankfully) by his hair. He is usually covered in dirt, and his nails are usually very unclean. He wears a small piece of black yarn as a necklace with a rock attached to it, roughly in the shape of a star. The necklace is tight to his neck and the rock hangs down high on his chest.
Role Playing Sample: Kruu sighed as he looked around the city, hidden in the dark shadows of a small alley. A rat screeched as it ran past his feet and he smiled, licking his lips. He had already eaten today, but the rat looked like it was begging to be cooked. He rubbed his stomach and shuddered a bit before turning away from the rat, deciding to track it down later. He watched as people walked by him, nobody taking any notice of the small boy in the alley. He judge people carelessly on their clothes, their walk, the way they were talking. He wished he were one of them, and yet felt extremely happy that he was well hidden from them. His hand found the surface of the wall next to him and he ran his fingers up and down the smooth texture. For some reason, this always calmed him when his mind got worked up thinking about other people. He shook his head sadly and turned, reserved to a life of loneliness.
