Role Playing References: I have reason to believe that administrators are above this if they're part of the board's birthing.
Brief Character History: Since most of this is common knowledge, I'll spare you a great part of it, and just sum it up. Basically, Iroh was, for a long time, Fire Nation's greatest general. He retired, and now serves Prince Zuko in exile.
Brief Character Personality: Old and crafty, Iroh is definitely an able military mind. However, he only shows this when it needs to be seen. Otherwise he often plays the mentor to Zuko, and is something very akin to a grandfather for all of the troops on their ship.
However, as with many people, he can take on whatever mantle the moment needs. Demon, hero, father, saint and sinner, Iroh has worn each guise at some point in his life.
Most of what he does now, though, he does solely for three reasons. Loyalty, pity, and compassion, all felt towards the same tortured young man. After Zuko's fight with his father, Iroh has made it his personal duty to assist Zuko in finding the Avatar, and gradually steer him on towards the path of a righteous leader, should the need arise.
Character Motivation: Loyalty, pity, and compassion felt towards Zuko.
Character Strengths: Iroh's extremely intelligent and strong willed, and is normally very cool headed. Also, he totally has to be patient, what with hot headed Zuko strutting about like the cock he is. Also, I mean the animal.
Character Weakness: Occasionally he does dote on Zuko, trying to shield him from the necessary pains associated with ruling over men.
Character Bending/Warrior Skills: Fire bending master, formal martial arts training, formal weapons training, some monk combat skills.
Character Talents: Bargain hunting, fire bending, strategy, leadership, old wise Karate master talk, some monk training.
Plans to develop the character: (anything you want to diverge away from the canon on within reason. I.e., while you could change Zuko’s reasons behind wanting the avatar, you couldn’t change the fact that he is hunting him.)
Role Playing Sample:
Iroh rubbed his hands. When you got to be his age, every little temperature difference mattered throughout the body. His hands were too hot, his feet too cold, his bowels a little too fiery for his liking. The harsh interior of the iron ship didn’t help at all, either. The smell of it, and the way it locked in the damp was just appalling.
The old Fire Dragon grunted to himself, and farted loudly. That took care of the fire in his bowels.
There was so much that needed to be done today. Zuko needed some more training; after he had gotten back from fighting the Avatar he was a little more morose than usual. He was improving quickly, at least. Soon he might even be a match for his sister.
Iroh sighed, and rubbed the heat away from his hands a little more forcefully. The day when Zuko and Zula would cross the proverbial blade was drawing ever closer. Now that Zhao’s out of the picture, and Iroh and his nephew were thoroughly branded traitor, his younger brother Ozai would certainly send a new pet after them. And the Fire Lord would appreciate the irony of the younger sibling destroying the older one.
Ozai’s pupil against Iroh’s pupil. The old rivalry starting all over again.
His body temperature finally regulated, Iroh left his room on the ship and headed to the galley. There’s no point teaching Zuko anything with an empty stomach.
