Role Playing References: @_@ Too many to count. However, the head admin has roleplayed with me in RP no Jutsu, No Good (a Marauders era RPG - now dead), Teen Titans RPG, Twisted Paradox (a Star Wars RPG)
Brief Character History: When Sokka's father left with the other male warriors of his tribe, he was disappointed and saddened that he couldn't come along with them to help. However, he kept his word and stayed behind to protect his sister and the other women of the Southern Water Tribe. When he and Katara discovered Aang, his adventures began. As he and Katara travelled with the young airbender, he began to look on Aang as the little brother he never had. Most recently, he developed a tragic and short lived mutual love interest in Princess Yue, and hasn't really been quite the same, since.
Brief Character Personality: Although Sokka can come across as being arrogant, sexist, cynical, bossy and intolerant, there is much more to his personality than that. He is intelligent, perceptive, and he has a good heart. He is fiercely protective over his loved ones, and loyal as well. Lastly, he's genuinely a nice guy with a sense of humour, though he's kind of a dork when he's trying to impress the opposite sex.
Character Motivation: Sokka wishes to protect Katara and Aang, and to eventually see his father and the other members of the Southern Water Tribe again. He'd also like to be able to use the strength he's developing to kick some Fire Nation soldier butt.
Character Strengths: Sokka is intelligent, and thinks well in a tight situation. He is kind, and determined to protect those that are important to him.
Character Weakness: Sokka can be arrogant and sometimes underestimates others. He can be tactless and intolerant, and stubborn when he thinks that he's in the right.
Character Bending/Warrior Skills: Sokka has been trained as a young warrior of the Water tribe, and is able to competently use a boomerang, spear and a club. His hand to hand combat skills are decent, but could use some work.
Character Talents: Sokka has a wide range of skills - aside from having warrior's skills, he also knows how to track and hunt, how to steer different kinds of boats, how to determine good quality items, how to manage money, and other useful survival skills. He has a sharp mind for science and inventing on the spot.
Plans to develop the character: I plan on having Sokka become a little more serious, especially about his warrior training. After seeing how strong Katara has become as a waterbender, and after losing Yue, he will be focusing on getting strong enough to protect the people closest to him when they need him.
Role Playing Sample:
As much as Sokka enjoyed tormenting Katara about being a girl, and the implications that being a girl meant that she was more suited to sewing and cooking than she was to fighting, her progress in waterbending was hard to ignore. So was Aang's for that matter, and it left the young water tribe warrior feeling like he had accomplished comparitively little, at least in terms of personal progress. It was the need for personal accomplishment that had him awake at this early hour, practicing forms with his spear. Lunges, strikes, whirling it around like a staff, and throwing it like a javellin into targets he drew were all a part of his training regiment.
The next forms he went through were the basics that Suki had taught him on the island of Kyoshi. Weapons were tools for a warrior, not necessities. A true warrior's body was a weapon itself. In addition to the forms Suki had shown him, he went through basic punches and kicks, and tried to incorporate the two styles. The advantage to merging styles was being unpredictable.
Sokka's intense concentration was broken when he smelled something delicious cooking. It was at that point that he noticed exactly how much time had passed.
"Sokka! Breakfast!" called Katara's voice. The mention of breakfast had the young warrior's stomach answering with a mighty roar.
"I'll be right doooooooooooown!" Sokka called, skidding on a hidden ice patch on his last word. He landed roughly on his behind, glad that he at least had his thick coat on to cushion the fall a little. He rubbed his now-sore butt, consoled only by the fact that he was going to be fed a well-deserved breakfast.
