Name: Tora
Age: 22
Nationality: Earthbender
Job: Earthbending student
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Brown
Weight: 130 lbs
Height: 5'5"
Family: A mom and two brothers - back home.
Likes: The desert, dark colors, stars, and little sugar cakes
Dislikes: Small spaces, busybodies, and spicy foods
Combat/Bending Skills: She can bend - as long as it's not an emergency, or anything.
Talents: Hiking/camping, sarcasm, and every once in a while (i.e. alternate Tuesdays on the third blue moon in April), singing.
Motivation: Her dad died in a Fire Nation raid when she was just a toddler. Convinced that he would have lived if he'd been a stronger bender, she's gone off to find herself a master.
Personality: Pretty quiet, but determined (read: stubborn as hell) and sarcastic to a fault.
Personality Strengths: Persistent and loyal.
Personality Flaws: Has a temper and can be shortsighted.
Weaknesses: Has a trick left knee and is mildly nearsighted.
Brief History:
The Fire Nation raid that marked the end of her father's life happened before Sachio, her youngest brother, was born. Being the only one to inherit her father's Earthbending abilities, Tora established herself as protector of the family. This made for difficulties in "normal" life - dating, establishing a family of her own, etc. She was simply too devoted to her family to leave. But when her mother finally told her the whole story involving her father's death, Tora decided she had to be stronger than those that came before. It being that there were no real Earthbending masters in her village, she deemed Akeno, the son of an old family friend and a capable warrior, as her family's watchman and struck out on her own. The wide world awaits, and it's a lot colder than it seems.
Description: (physical)
Medium height and of a solid build, with a rather pointed face and wide eyes. She keeps her hair pulled back, but oftentimes the front bit still gets in her eyes - a constant source of annoyance, truth be told. She wears a brown woven vest over a green long-sleeved shirt and a pair of her father's old work trousers (because the traditional Earth Kingdom skirt is so far from practical for long trips), held up with a thick leather belt. Her shoes are rough-hewn and make her feet ache, but it beats going barefoot. Around her neck is a star pendant on a thin silver chain. Her mother, whose name is Hoshiko, or "star-child", gave it to her when she left. More often than not, she's got a heavy pack on her back as well.
Role Playing Sample:
Tora lay on her back, listening to the fire crackling nearby and watching the stars in their eternal, imperceptible dance. Despite herself, her constant worry about her Mother and Mikio and Sachio, she enjoyed this. The desert wind cool on her face and the ground a solid force against her back...it was peaceful. It made her think, just for a minute, that her entire jouney wasn't a hoax, and she'd find a master and get home to protect her family again. Oh, just to see her village again - she rolled onto her side and banished the thoughts. That line of thinking would just keep her awake. She knew that from experience.
Tora wasn't particularly strong, or fast, or even exceptionally sharp. She just...was. Hopefully that'd be enough.
