At his 13th birthday, his father confronted him directly; “I will not abide by you unwillingness to fight, fire bending is about crushing your enemies into oblivion, and your potential clearly shows that you could raise very high in the military, now stiffen your back Taketo, I’ll not have you disgrace me anymore. You WILL learn to fight properly, if not by my own hand, that by the hand of the harsh outside world.” With that, his own father sent him out into the world by forcibly having him join into the army. sighing about his situation, Taketo decided it might not be sooo bad if he were in the army, at least he would get to travel somewhere, so he packed his bags, and said his good-byes, and went off to join the military, leaving his boyhood behind him.

Taketo missed his mom,, and hoped thhat she was well, considering how he didnt get to say goodbye to her, those thoughts of her always brought him a pang of guilt. sighing, Taketo rose from his his make-shift bed, and began to pake up, it was lonely, traveling by ones self. he took a sip of water from his water sack, but little came out, he needed to find a creek or river to refill it.
Voices. the nearby path on which he was walking the other day have voices, so Taketo took a hiding spot some distance away. this had happened a few times before, dodging earth kingdom soldiers and patrols, and some fire nation people earlier on, because he didnt want to risk trouble. as he got a glimpse of the voices, he sighed in relief, they appeared to be ordinary travelers. Still, he gathered his things and waited, he would begin travel after they were gone and out of hearing distance, he didnt want any trouble. His stomache rumbled slightly, it seemed that he also need to eat, so he sat down and a some more of his supplies while he waited, it was no good to travel on an empty stomache he reasoned.
