They all sat around the table for dinner. It had been weeks since Shen had had a decent meal.
Hao looked at her and said, "So, you are a traveler?"
"Yes," said Shen, "I came from the capital city."
"THE CAPITAL CITY! Why did you leave to become a traveler? I heard that the capital is a wonderful place." Said Hao.
"Well, its a long story."
"Come on, Shen!" Pleaded Sungi, "I love stories!"
"Ok. My friend, almost like a brother, Zuko, spoke out of term and got banished. His uncle, General Iroh, went with him. When Zuko told me the news about them leaving, I told my parents that I had to go with them. Knowing how much I cared about both of them, they let me go. When I told them, Zuko was happy, but Iroh wasn't quite sure. But, after a while, he thought it was a good idea. We had walked for what seemed like months, but then I noticed a change in Zuko. He was only concerned with finding the Avatar, which, by the way, was the only way his father would allow him back into the fire nation, and was becoming angry at every little thing. He had found a ship and crew to help him find the Avatar. When he told me, I just exploded at him. Iroh, couldn't believe that I was exploding at such a good close friend of mine, but something had to be done. He was becoming obsessed with finding the Avatar. I told him that he had become something that I knew he wasn't, and that if he didn't change, I was going to leave him and Iroh. And he told me, 'Shen, you do what you want, I don't really care right now. All I want right now is for my father to take me back.' And with that, I told him 'Then, don't be shocked if you wake up tomorrow and I am not here.' And that was the last I saw of him and Iroh. It was just yesterday that happened actually. Sure, I regret leaving them, but I think it was for the better. Zuko had to make a decision on his own. Without my help."
With that, the entire table fell silent. Not one person spoke. Then Fen said, "Well, your welcome to stay here as long as you like Shen."
"Thank you, Fen. But I don't want to be a nusence."
"It would be fine. I wouldn't mind either." Said Hao.
"If you insist, I will. Thanks again."
With that, Shen had finished her roast duck and helped clear the table. Wow, Shen thought, I have a family again.
