((Continued from lastavatar.proboards79.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=earthkingdomwilds&thread=1136272409&page=1 )) Iroh smiled as he approached the young rescuee. There was something incrediby familliar about her. She had a... Bearing about her, that spoke of Fire Nation nobility. Of course, she was no slouch in combat either. She was a soldier, and carried herself as such. But what was a lady of the Fire Nation doing out in the wilds of the Earth Kingdom? It just didn't make sense. There were a few families who stuck their noses in certain odious businesses, and a few more that seemed to know everything as soon as it happened. With the way she looked, she could have easily fit into two, and maybe been born into a third. But it was no matter, he'd find that out after a few minutes of talking to her. "So, I see you've met my young charge. I hope you're not in need of comfort, my lady. His words can be quite harsh."

"In tone and volume, perhaps," she replied, "but his words were not overly harsh. I was informed that food would be served in about an hour if I was hungry and asked to not disturb his meditation."
Almost instantly, Kimiyo recognized the older man's voice as her second rescuer. Unlike the young man who had seemed annoyed with her and questioned her, this one was friendlier, and his voice was quieter, and more accomodating. Some of it was likely a difference in personality, but his bedside manner indicated that he probably had a better idea of the extent of her injuries than his young charge did.
"If you don't mind me asking, good sir...how long was I unconscious?" Her yellow eyes were still not entirely focused, though her vision was improving.

Iroh raised a bushy grey eyebrow. She certainly didn't talk like any soldier she'd ever heard, except for maybe himself, Zula, and occasionaly Zuko. The young woman spoke and carried herself with a grace that could only have been enforced in Ozai's court. The way she stood, the way she spoke, even the way she met his gaze straight on.
Not many women in the Fire Nation would dare to look on Ozai's brother, retired General Iroh, straight in the eye.
Of course, she might not even remember who he was. He'd been away from court for a long time, and she was young enough to let an important face slip away here or there. Many young people had no head for politics.
Iroh decided to bring up the point of her lineage after he told her about the length of her unconsciousness.
"Well, Lady, you have been sleeping for about a day since I tended to your injuries. How about your father? Is he still in the business of knowing everything before it happens?"
It was a fairly innocuous comment about her father, but something about her reminded him of Zanza. Hell, something even reminded Iroh of Midori, Zanza's old wife. If she was part of that family, she was probably here on official and shady business.

"I'm very grateful to you for the courtesy you've shown me," said Kimiyo politely.
She thought for a moment as to what to say in reply to the comment about her father. It was obvious that her social station had been identified - possibly through her own natural mannerisms. She wasn't playing any sort of role right now, so was behaving in the way that came most naturally to her. Including the avoidance of a direct answer. Members of the Shen clan generally only gave a direct answer to a direct question.
"As for my father, that's quite flattering. I imagine the famed fortune tellers of the world would be out of business if it was true."
